Things you should know when traveling:

Can I carry my firearm when I go on vacation?

It all depends where you’re going and how you plan to get there. There are more and more states and local communities allowing some form of concealed carry and/or reciprocity with Michigan’s CPL Law but there are some that don’t. Check here for a map that has all the states that recognize the Michigan Concealed carry permit. If you’re driving check the map of all the states you plan to drive through and verify the laws beforehand.
Verify the laws of your final destination. There may be magazine capacity limits in place that you will need to conform to.

Am I able to take my firearm on my flight?

In most instances this is possible. It’s fairly easy although there are a few steps you will need to take beforehand. Check here for a link to the TSA for rules to follow. Also check with your airline and find out what their rules are. Most have offered this service for some time and have a policy in place on what to do.Needless to say the weapon must be carried unloaded and locked in a case with only a lock that you can open with a key. Make certain to find out the firearms laws in the state of your final destination so that you can conform to their laws.
