Are you Training?

Are you Training?

I wanted to personally write this so you, the reader of these words will take the time to ask yourself the question. Are you training?

This I believe will be a several part series talking about the multi-varied need and purpose for training.

So many people that I’ve been talking to since going into the firearms teaching profession have asked me in a variety of ways, how often should they train. I consider the people that go through the time and expense of taking up firearms training or getting a license to carry concealed, some of the best in the world. These people of their own volition have decided that they want to be proactive and take on the responsibility of their and their families safety.

Becoming a concealed firearm carrier is not a cheap endeavor. It takes a commitment of time and resources that can so easily be put elsewhere. But where does that leave you. Possibly feeling less trained than you need.

I’ve often heard that in states that either have or are adapting Constitutional Concealed Carry that doesn’t require their citizens to get training prior to carrying; people are still going out on their own and getting the training. Firearms instructors in those states have reported an uptick in their requests for classes related to personal firearms and concealed carry. This gives me hope that most good people that decide to take on the challenge of defending their and possibly others lives do in fact want to be taught what they don’t know.

In recent experience I’ve seen just the same, to a degree. We’ve have concealed carry permit holders call us or come through our doors for a refresher course telling stories of how they got their permit and only minimal firearms instruction was provided. Unfortunately too many of them then after getting that permit, don’t seek out more qualified teaching on the subject. What I’ve appreciated about those that contact us is they want more training. They realize that the responsibility and the liability are important enough that they reach out and look for it.

Let’s push the pause button and continue on next time with what happens with the human mind when you don’t prepare yourself.

Until Next Time…,

Be Alert, Be Aware and BE SAFE!!
